President’s Letter: West Point Society - Florida West Coast
Greetings West Point Society Florida West Coast!
As we approach our Founders Day and the end of our official West Point Society Year, I am happy to say we have had a great year, culminated by a wonderful stroke of luck that allowed us to get the Superintendent of USMA, LTG Caslen, to speak at our Founders Day this year! We are moving the date to March 16th, 2016 to accommodate his schedule, so mark your calendars!
Thanks to the large group of folks that attended our Army-Navy Party on December 12th. The party was held at O’Brien’s Irish Pub in Brandon, a venue owned and operated by West Point Graduates. Of course the ending was disappointing, but as usual we trounced Navy at the party!
We also had a wonderful Fall Social on the Rooftop at Beck Construction in Tampa Heights. Dozens of Academy Grads, including USNA and USAFA, had a great time hanging out and eating, drinking, and enjoying fellowship with our fellow grads. Thanks to Mark House for donating the space and for the O’Brien’s catering crew who served delicious food for the event.
Lastly, Our Leadership and Ethics Conference Leader, Bruce Bornick, needs to step down due to a particularly difficult work schedule this year. We will miss Bruce’s tremendous leadership and organizational skills, though he has agreed to stay on to transition to the new L&E Conference Leader once we have the right volunteer identified. If anyone is interested and able to step up to take over the committee, please let us know.
Here’s to another great year together. Thanks for all you do to make our Society all that it is!
